It was depressing when I started because it was the end and part of me did not want to read it. And then all of the deaths. I cried and cried over Dobby. And Harry digging the grave by hand and the inscription on the stone. I went to a convention and they had a room with a place to remember each of the ones who died. I gave Dobby a sock. Brings a tear to my eyes even now.
And after Fred I thought she would not kill any more. When I saw Lupin and my namesake Tonks on the floor I just lost it. My neighbors must have thought half my family had died. I just could not take any more. It was the most heart breaking book I have ever read. Now I am listening to it on tape. And Snape.. poor Snape. He was such a tragic figure. I don't know how they are going to make that book into a movie for children. It was war, pure war with all of the horror or war.

**Spoilers**
I mean in some ways, it was depressing because like a million people died (Tonks, Lupin, Mad Eye) but all in all i think it was an excellent book! The end was magnificent! I loved how they did the nineteen years later thing. It just made the book much more interesting! And it's not so depressing when people like Lord Voldemort die! And it was a good thing she didnt kill off Ron or Hermione. i think a lot o people were actually expecting that!

I agree...Harry Potter is depressing. A little piece of me dies each time somebody talks about it. In a world with so many other terrible things happening, like Darfur and the Utah miners...why did somebody have to write the Harry Potter books?

Spoilers!!!
I think that the ending is actually pretty happy, except that Lupin, Tonks, and George died, of course. That was really depressing, especially George! But it was happy that Harry and Ginny married. He was like his dad, kind of: marrying a red head. I really like that! I think that Teddy's grandmother looked after him, but Teddy always hung out at Harry and Ginny's house, and was like James, Albus, and Lily's older brother.

Well, kind of. Not really depressing, but it was liberating. You found out so many things that you were glad of, other things were somewhat depressing. I thought the sixth book was more depressing then the seventh. Or maybe even the fifth. I get what you're saying though. Hope you get a satisfying answer.
Peace out.

the book itself isn't depressing. it's just the fact that the story is over. that's depressing. :(

No I believe Tonk's mother survives. Did you read '19 years later?' Do so if you haven't.
