Geez guys, a lot of hate going on in this thread. Anything on two wheels is fine by me. As far as this question goes, I agree with many others that this is just another generalization. It happens with all vehicles, Trucks have straight pipes, muscle cars and the glass packs, Honda's with their large mufflers, and motorcycles with aftermarket exhausts or baffles removed. Not all harleys have loud pipes, and the ones that do sound good. The ones that don't..sound good too. So leave it at that.

You're making a generalization. There are plenty of bikes other than Harley's that have "loud pipes". What constitutes "ridiculously loud"? What's loud to me may not be to someone else. Loud is a subjective thing. I like what I consider to be loud pipes, but to each his own.

Not all Harley riders like to run ridiculously loud pipes, most prefer the stock pipes that dull the engine noise just like any other muffler. There are some people, however, who like loud and relatively un-muffled engines, and not all of them ride Harleys. Many drive cars.

It's not limited to Harleys. Drag pipes are ridiculously loud no matter what type of bike you mount them on.

All Harley Motors Are Very Powerful, Pipes To Quiet Them Down Wouldnt Fit On The Bikes. Also You Cant Use A Muffler Because The Distance Is To Short From The Motor To The Rear. This Really Is Why. Have A Good One.

If you have to ask you wouldn't understand. But I'll tell you - its because they have small peckers and they need to make an announcement that they just bought $30k worth of antiquated junk and a goofy tasselled leather outfit and buttless chaps. Its like Halloween year round!
