No, all the ball has to do is travel 10 yards before being touched by the kicking team. If the ball is touched by the recieving team prior to reaching 10 yards, then the kicking team can recover it.

on a kickoff, the ball is live to anyone, as long as it gets past the first 10 yards. so if you kick the ball 11 yards, and the receiving team doesn't get it first, the kicking team could run up and grab it. it's not like a punt where the receiving team needs to touch it for it to be live.

You either have to wait for ten yards then it is any1's ball, or if someone on the opposing team touches it than you have the right to get it

i know in NFL u dont have to touch it....thats why they kick it high...so they could push ppl out of hte way...not sure about college
