You are protecting yourself, there is nothing wrong with being cautious. Sadly, there are older men who prey on young girls. Try to go with a girl friend, don't go by your self, it is not a good idea. Always let your parents know where you are going and with whom and when you will return, that is a great safety measure.

Your not alone. Are your parents aware of this? You are letting this control your life. You can't help it. Well, you can take back control of your life. You need to speak about the experience to your parents and tell them you need counceling as well. The more you talk about it will become easier to accept and heal from. You need to heal from the experience, which you have not done yet. You are 15, you should be out enjoying life. As far as the cat calling that the guys do in your neighborhood, I wish they knew how disresptful it is. I wish you all the best, please get help and voice it loudly.

I wish I knew what to say! I'm an older man who tries not to make an *** out himself and doesn't want anyone to be afraid of me. At age 15 you shouldn't have to experience crude behavior that affects you emotionally. I can only hope you meet men who have respect for you and won't behave in ways that make you feel bad. In the meantime be street smart but realize that not everyone is dangerous.

I dont know but if you feel it is an "instinctual" feeling like fearing a growling dog, dont ignore it, it might be that this might come in handy to you at the right time. It could be that your guardian angel has put this fear in you for good reason, then that time will pass and so will the fear, can you live with that? Good luck.

As a female you always feel vulnerable and if you've had a bad experience it only makes it more intense. Buy some pepper spray and carry it on your key chain. It makes a big difference at putting your mind a little more at ease. Also, carry a cell phone.

This seems more or less like you need some basic form of counseling. Maybe an outside buddy just to desensatize you to these sort of things. But more props on the shrink.

It's a saying, "Never let them see you sweat." Which means walk with your head held high, and have confidence. Even if you are afraid, dont show it. Be prepared to look people in the eye and stand up for yourself.

ugh I hate that!
well carry some pepper mint spray and also if your going for a walk or just walking to store take your dog along [if you have one] or just a friend or sibling. I always feel SUPER safe when I take my dog along with me while walking. if you don't have any of those have a cell phone with you that you has 911 or someone who can help you and that has a tracker on it :].

i know what that's like, but you cant live your life in fear... perhaps you can take self defense classes to boost your confidence in handling a situation [if it arises].
