White spots are usually a sign of ich and if you can see them then you need to treat your tank fast. I have used Coppersafe to successfully treat a tank for ich and I recommend you use it to treat yours. Follow the instructions and you should be able to clear up the ich in your tank.

There are lots of fish that will live well with Tetras. Depending on your preferences and tank size you might look into getting Gouramis, Cory Catfish, Rasboras and other Tetras

It sounds like ich. Tetras are weak to the medicine for ich. In this case the cure can be pretty stressful.

What I do is turn my heat up to 83-84 degrees for at least a few days AFTER the ich has disappeared. The tetras will not mind the extra heat but the ich dies in temperatures over 82 degrees.
Also, you won't have to take out the carbon and mess with all the extra water changes that medicine requires!

Almost any community fish is fine with tetras. Just watch out the mouth is too small to swallow them. --mollies, swordtails, zebra danios, guppies, platies, assorted kinds of catfish, plecos, and many more. Look at your fish store and ask which ones you like are tetra friendly.

It most likely has Ick. Go to your pet store for a liquid treatment, or I have found the tablets that dissolve in the water work well too.

I can't tell you what other fish can live with your tetras because I don't know what tetras you have. Their are lots of tetras, if you give me more info I can help you more =)

It definately sounds like ich
the easiest way to get rid of it is a combination of salt and heat

Turn up the heat to 88 degrees (not 82 won't help a bit)
take a cup, scoop out some tank water and add 1 tablespoon of salt per gallon water

that means if you have a 10 gallon tank add 10 tablespoons of aquarium salt to it and let it dissolve, then just pour it slowly in

Do a water change of 25% every day until you don't see any spots and repeat the salt treatment, but only for the water you refill, so if you have a 10 gallon tank, you take out about 2.5 gallons so you add another 2.5 tablespoons of salt to it

After about 5 days the spots should be disappeared, to a 50% waterchange and turn the heat back to normal

And you need to treat your tank before thinking about getting any other fish as well.

Hope that helps
Good luck

They definitely have ick. It doesn't show up until it is almost too late. If you just got them then you should tell the pet shop about it. I have found that liquid medicine works better.

Fishiefin is right there are too many different kinds and they all have different personalities. Give a breed description please.

it has ich. ich is a parisite that spreads very quickly from fish to fish. it is deadly. i suggest you do a 50% water change and buy some ich medication. and if its only in one fish move all of the other ones into a different tank.
