We are constantly cleaning the tank, changing the filters, doing 1/2 water changes & using anti algae solution, but we are unable to get the green algae under control. Our goldfish are fighting & biting each other. I have seperated one fish as it is exhausted & has lost a lot of scales. Can someone please provide us with some advice as we are new to keeping goldfish?

you should have about 40 or 50 gallons for your golfish, 20 each. so if your tank is to small they could be agressive towards each other. also if your tank is in full sunlight that could be the reason of the algea. keep the lights in the tank off for a while too. and the temperature drop should be good because golfish are coldwater fish and their temperatures should be 69-79 F

Is the tank in the sunlight? Sunlight is the main cause of algae growth as it needs light to grow. If so, move the tank or close the blinds. Is the tank big enough for the fish to move around comfortably? They sometimes get stressed and fight if they are too crowded. Good luck.

First of all, i hope you have a good sized tank, because each one of them needs at least 10 gallons of water
here is also a basic caresheet for them

Also, your tank needs to be in a dark spot, that means no direct or indirect sunlight to it, that's the mainsource for green algae

Stop using chemicals, cover your tank completely for at least 2-3 days with a blanket that no light can get to it, that should solve the problem because you take the source away to grow

only feed them twice a day what they will eat in 2 min

They shouldn't be biting each other, unless they don't have enough room, never heard that before

you can also put 1 tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallon into your tank, which will help to prevent disease about once a week when you do your partial waterchange

you're suppose to do a 25% partial waterchange with a gravel siphon weekly

Hope that helps
Good luck
