They say he will probably get 12-18 months, but I think he deserves a lot more time. Since his crime had nothing to do with football, I do think he should be allowed to play in the NFL once he gets out of jail. If a regular person does something wrong and goes to jail, why shouldn't they be allowed to work once they get out? Of course, many businesses may not want to hire an ex-con if they are concerned that they will be victimized by this person if they hire him. In Michael Vick's case this isn't an issue directly. The next team that hires Michael Vick will have the concern that his teammates will hate him, the fans will hate him, and that he is a bad person and will do something else wrong. That is not a reason to punish him more once he gets out of jail. Most likely these issues will reduce the demand for him and result in him making a lower salary than what he would otherwise expect based on his talent.

On TV the lawyers have said a year to 18 months is typical. I hope he does at least that much. If Roger Goodell is really serious about discipline, he will uphold the suspension of Vick, and never back down from it. Vick should never play in the NFL again. The Players' Union won't even stick up for him, and neither should anyone else. I hope the CFL won't let him play up there, either. Michael Vick is a sick son of a *****, and needs a lot of help. . . .

6 years, and I think he should be allowed to play in the NFL because if any team picks him up, good luck to them.
The reason the NFL is suspending him is so the contract can be nullified and the team gets out of paying him millions while he's in prison. The NFL bailed the team out when the team should have included in any contract that any actions by Vick that lead to negative publicity for his team or the NFL can make the contract broken. But, they don't want to imply that anybody would ever do that so they dont' try to include it, for fear of reprise.

Make the time fit the crime. How many animals died in his damn organization? I'd say 1 year per.
And "HELL NO" he shouldn't be allowed to be a professional athlete working for anybody period. I understand he's being asked to return the 22million dollar up front money he was given towards a 130million contract!
You know 0 tolerance could be exercised a few times in other cases of sports and famous folks committing felonies and pretty soon, nobody would be risking it.
Money talks louder than prison time I guess.

He should not be treated any different than anyone else...however, this nonsense of rich thinking they are superpeople should be put to an end....instead of 17 months give him double....start telling the rich they can't buy there way out of everything.
Also, it is a shame to see such a lucky man that was a great player do this to his life. I do not believe he should ever be permitted to play again and let people that will respect that great honor give it a try.

I think he should spend the minimum of 12 mos. Pay back money to the team for his missed season, and NEVER be pardoned to play professional football again.
He is a very poor roll model for sports fans and society in general.
To think he used his money to cause the pain and suffering of animals.
He needs to be made an example of, to show that this type of behavior is unacceptable.

Give him 6 months, never be able to step on a NFL field again, and has to do community service at an animal shelter along with donating money to a no kill shelter. I herd a little while ago they are trying to take away his 10 million dollar sign on bonus.

A few years in prison should do... as for the NFL... I doubt that anyone would hire him even it were allowed... and certainly no sponsor would want an endorsement from him...

6 months to a year and of course he should be allowed to play again. Once he has paid for his "sins" why should the NFL make him pay forever?
