I have a 80GB Hard Drive With two partions one ( C:\\) and Backup (D:\\). However I am thinkink of getting an external Hard Drive to backup and add the D:\\ part to the C:\\ drive.
Is there a way to do this without deleting any info on the C:\\ Drive. ( I Just don't want the D:\\ , i just want to transfer the space to the C:\\ Drive.)

You may look at a program called Partition Magic. I used it years ago when if first came out and you were able to merge the tables. Usually D:\ is reserved for the DVD/CD or you can move the data to C:\ and then delete that D: Partition as long as you have enough avail HD Space but do use a Software program which allows you to control the different outcomes or you will have to delete the complete initial drive which if your going to do that take the PC to a qualified Tech unless you have a PC restore disk either way you will end up back at square 1

When you connect the external hard drive it will be assigned a new letter like F:

You can then copy files from d: to f: using Windows Explorer.

After you get all the files off of the d: drive you can remove that partition and combine it with the c:.
You will need a special program to do this so not to loose data on the C: drive> Partition Magic -

An External is a good choice,
Having your backup on the same hard drive partition or not is not a good thing. If you need to have a backup it's best to have your stuff safe on an External.

You have another option that will increase you systems performance dramatically.
Keep just the OS and program files on the C: drive and move your data files, pix, music, etc. to the D: drive. This also would make your backups to the external much quicker.

You need a third party partitioning program, such as Norton Partition Magic which is available for about $70. There are many free ones that you can find on sites such as www.download.com, but most in the industry recognize that Symantec- while it has a not-so-great Anti Virus program- is good for this.

Try running a Google search for free partitioning software,

Good luck!

You will need a partition manager to do this. Back up ALL your files before using one.
