OK, this to continue my previous question.

My son and I were in my car when the song where the guy sings "own it like a rock star..." (rap), comes on. Not even thinking, I start to hum, then sing the words to the song.

My son turns his head, fast, looks at me with the most suprised face and says "you KNOW that song?"

I say yea, it is a good song.

He tells me again! "you need help dad."

Why: he is 16. I am 55. I bought and listen to the cd "high school musical 2" in the car (but never when he is in the car; he could not stand it!), along with other pop songs. I also listen to metal, rap, etc.

My son says that anyone over 25 do not have a clue as to these songs!!

What do you think? AGAIN??

O.k. I am a 39 year old woman. I have an extensive music library consisting of a LARGE variety of styles (excluding rap), and I find it surprises my co-workers (in their early 20's) to see me singing along with MOST songs that play on the radio in the background. Would I buy "high school musical 2"? No. Do I think you're weird or need help because you did? No. Your son is young. You are not old, but your son at his age is going to think you are. He is now in the "chic", "hip", "cool," (whatever) stage and does not realize how much his statement may have hurt/bothered/confused you. Bottom line - age is not what determines a persons musical taste - the person themselves do!

Well, if that's the case then I have to throw away my Mudvayne, Korn and Mega Death cds. Darn it. And I was just getting to know the words to Not Falling.
