They take your last period, subtract three months, and add 7 days. One would usually give birth within two weeks either way of that date. Enjoy the next nine months and get lots of rest!

All estimated birth dates are only a guide, normally give or take two weeks either side. Mostly this is because a lot of women do not know when the first day of their last period was and the fact that some babies like to stay in longer than others. Only five percent of babies born are actually born on their due date ( my last one actually was, to everyone's surprise ) The doctor or midwife can give you an estimate, but all babies come in their own time.

He can't, although many try LOL
Doctors and midwives can tell when you are "getting close" by signs like this:
1. Losing the mucus plug
2. Dilation and effacement of the cervix
3. Bloody show
4. Diarrhea and loose stools (sometimes with cramping)
5. Increased and sometimes painful "Braxton Hicks" contractions
They use ultrasound and the dates you give them from your last menstrual cycle to estimate your due date, but it's only an estimate. The baby will come when he is ready!

He doesn't its just a estimate due date. What they do is by your last period and estimate 40 weeks. I think it's 4 percent a women actual gives birth on the due date.

They dont. Nobody can predict when, it just happens when the baby is ready. They can try though, by how dialated and effaced you are, and how big the baby is.

It's not a prediction. There are signs and symptoms that show that she is in labor.
