First off, please make sure you understand the word snitch. It relates to those in the prison system or part of criminal system. For example, person A sells drugs, but is a snitch or informant for the police. He tells police about other drug dealers or criminal partners for his own benefit. Or if he gets caught, he says ...if you do not arrest me I can go back into the criminal community and find out who robbed bank ABC.

Snitching is NOT when I witness a crime and call the police with information. I am not part of that activity, I never told those criminals I would go along with their activity or promised to protect them. In fact if they steal my neighbors car I feel a moral and social obligation to help my neighbor and friend.

Somehow people in some communities have associated the activity of being a snitch with the activity of being a law abiding citizen, good Samaritan, caring about the most common and most innocent victims of crime the elderly, sick, disabled or children

I can understand where the distrust of the police came from, and in my town I am certain the police have some serious problems, but if a drug dealer shoots at another dealer but misses and kills a 7 year old girl sleeping in her bed, I can not understand what sort of person would not want the killer brought to justice.

So for a debate it is important to have correct definitions as that is a common debate tactic, re-define something as to give it a negative connotation.
So for your debate, being a snitch is not good. If you and I agree to rob a bank, and we promise not to inform on each other, and I get caught.....I should not turn you in to get a reduced sentance.
If I see you rob a bank and call the police that is NOT snitching and by the way that is a good thing.
G. Gordan Liddy discussed this subject as he would not provide information when he was arrested.

From a social point of view, those who live in a community are utimately responsible for that community and they have the most at stake, not George Bush or the mayor, or police chief, or a rapper or a talk show host. And if they decide that the criminal element should be given certain rights to commit crimes then really that is their choice.

Snitching is good and bad, it's good because if you snitch on someone that does a bad thing like kills someone, or beats them, you have to snitch on them because your not only stopping the bad guy, but you're also telling the truth. Snitching is bad because if someone doesn't do anything to you, and you lye and tell on them and get them in trouble, that's snitching, because instead of the bad guy getting in trouble, the good guy is getting in trouble, and that's bullying. So snitching can be bad, and good.

I someones life is in danger or something along the lines but then I dont think it'd be called snitching. "snitching" itself is never good

When you snitch, it means you have exposed something wrong that has happened. At the same time, it makes others think twice before doing something wrong.

It's your social responsibility, especially if the wrong deed is harmful to others including the one you are snitching on.

because if you see someone doing something wrong and you say nothing, you are condoning the wrongful act...if you see someone get shot and say nothing, the shooter goes free to shoot again...snitching stops people dead in their tracks and prevents some events from recurring...

Because if you know someone is doing something wrong and you do nothing about it you are complicit in the crime
