Honestly, older students usually take the classes more seriously than the younger ones do. Though, many of the younger ones take classes seriously, too. This is coming from a twenty-six year-old who is on the verge of graduating from graduate school, and who has always tried to take my coursework seriously----even when the material didn't interest me much. Still yet, sometimes older students can get a little overzealous. Over my years as an undergrad and a graduate student, there have been a few older students in my classes who really did slow the class down by making too many comments in class. So, you probably do have a point, to some extent.

Wow, you are astute!!! Your phrase, "cause the class to drag slowly", (terrible English!), shows that you probably don't' care about college, and are not there to really learn, you just want to get the class over, and get out.

Many older people go back to college for the 2nd time. Ever think of that? They ask questions because they are intelligent, and are there to REALLY learn, not just pass the time.

By the way, learn to spell and write English. One would think this question came from a 10 year old.

Hey! I'm not in college, but I take offense to that! They ask because they want to make sure they are understanding and doing things right. And with the cost of college, they have every right to get their money's worth! I'm 42 by the way, so I know why they would be asking questions. And it's not because they are morons!

Yes, some ask the questions because they want to learn. Learning knows no restriction. Personally, I attend a community college, so older students are pretty common.
