Im 14 and my parents still dont let me download explicit music. I dont really agree with them because I already know all of the swears, and it's easy enough for me to listen to the explicit version of a song on Youtube, so why wont they buy me an explicit CD? Anybody know a good way to convince them?

The CD's that I would want to buy are of the Hip-hop/Rap genre, but my parents are fine listening to that in the car and stuff.

i'm additionally 20, married, and have a 6 month historic boy. My husband and that i've got suggested having the communicate w/ our son whilst he will grow previous. We plan on chatting with him whilst he's like 10-12. all of us be responsive to he's going to wish to have intercourse in the past than marriage. we are able to offer a proof for the full element to him and in actuality tell him we want him to attend until eventually he's eighteen (or out of highschool) so if he does get a female pregnant he on the least has a severe training coaching. whether we are able to be ok if he has had a female pal once you evaluate that he was 15 and say he's 17 and that they have have been given intercourse provided that they are going to have been in a courting for 2 years and could "love" each and each distinctive. I in my opinion will probable be chuffed if he's not a sort of guys that sleeps with a million/2 the ladies in the school. I want to be extremely open and that i could desire to understand whilst he has intercourse for the 1st time because of the actuality that i could instead bypass purchase him condoms and be responsive to he's having unhazardous intercourse then being naive and thinking my new child is an angel and him ending up with an STD or a new child.

There is no way to convince them that I can think of. I think your eagerness to listen to it might dissuade them - one of the ways a parent has to mark how "ready" a teen is to encounter an "adult" reality (such as explicit lyrics) is by how badly the teen wants to encounter it. You'd probably get permission to listen to such music much sooner if you acted like you were blowing it off, and that it really wasn't a big deal. "Eh, I guess it's no biggie - I'm curious, but whatever - you'll let me listen to it I guess when you think I'm ready. So be it."

They may sense the act, though, in which case you can forget ever hearing it until you're 18 and they can't stop you. ;-)

My kids, btw, would not have such taboos. They would be raised with such things as nudity and explicit lyrics being treated as commonplace and no big deal. I think that is the best way to give them a healthy attitude on such things - expose them to it, not in any -unusual- way or anything, but just by not avoiding it or treating it like something that shouldn't be talked about among family. They'd know some people are offended by such subjects and thus would learn not to bring them up in most public circles, but among family, there is no subject they could not explore or talk about openly, with whatever words they'd choose to use. Treating these things like they are "taboo" gives them a power they don't deserve, a power in the eyes of children that is not a healthy thing for them to perceive.

It is "great" that you know all the swearing. Did you know that once you know the words of a song, it tends to be stuck in your head. Then even in a few years when you listen to the song, there are always parts you remember. ( I still remember songs from when I was 5) So is it such a great idea to listen to them? I know for teens, swearing is "cool". Why? Cuz everyone is doing it! When you are in society, swearing is for low-class people. And it's like drugs. When you start, it's hard to stop. Listen to your parents. Good luck.

Your parents probably think that u will go around using "explicit" language all over the place. Tell them that you're a responsible teen and you know right from wrong (I hope u do).

They should be able to at age 13. My mom never did though. I just burned it onto a CD and listened to it on a personal player. Good Luck.

they won't let you b/c they are overly-protective... I have limewire on my account with a password on a shared computer.. I listen to explict(and I mean very explict) music that my mom has no clue I even listen to...I've been listening to it for about 4 years now....

I go by the old saying "what they don't know, won't hurt 'em!"

To convince them to change their minds? No. But try this: discuss the music with them - hear out any objections they have to it (without starting an argument with them!) and tell them why you like it. Having open lines of communication is helpful.

My mom let us listen to whatever we wanted growing up (I had 2Live Crew and Cypress Hill) but she let us know why she didn't exactly jump for joy about it.
