hey i just got a laptop and im not geekish into knowing what type its just a hp laptop like 2 years old and i want to know what would be the distance i would have to be to pick up a wireless frequency

The actual range and performance of any wireless NIC varies substantially depending on conditions of the environment such as obstructions and radio interference. A two year old laptop probably will not have the range of a new laptop but you should get a signal in just about any corner of your residence.

Well my laptop is a couple years old but has a good wifi card in it and only reaches like up to150 ft at the most away from my router or any other signal.

The average range of my laptop seems to be about 100 feet...

i have a hp and a vaio,the hp has at least a hundred more feet of range than the sony
