Several cities used to have more teams; Boston, St. Louis, and New York City. The reason they no longer have as many teams is because the populations were not able to financially support as many Major League teams.
It is very tough to move a team anywhere near another Major League franchise. The ONLY reason the Washington Nationals could move so close to the Baltimore Orioles was because Congress threatened to re-evaluate Major League baseball's anti-trust exemption status.
Baseball was given this status because Congress said it was not an inter-state business but was actually only a sport. Because of this status, Major League baseball can control the teams more tightly than the National Football League can control their teams.
There is no way in the world that the Boston Red Sox franchise would allow another major league team into its market area.

Obviously New York was screaming for a team that actually played ball the right way. Hence the Muts, I mean Mets. The Yankee franchise simply could not fulfill the true needs and desires of a professional baseball team.
The Red Sox have six states, not just a city, but SIX STATES pulling for one team. No chance.
They'll be a third team in New York before there's a second team in Boston.

There would be no reason. The RED SOX are beloved by Boston and the New England area, so why have competition. They don't need the team.
IT would have been ok if the two teams were there for the last 1/2 century, like the Cubs/White Sox or Mets/Yankees, but not to put a new team there now.

Because having two sucky teams in one town is very degrading. The NL team that goes to Boston will end up being second to the mets, much like how the red sox are second to the yankees.

No way. I am not a Red Sox fans but I have to feel they would be against it. When you think of Boston, its the Red Sox that come to mind and with their great tradition and history I think it would be a slap in the face to all Red Sox fans.

I don't know if ESPN has enough commentaters to slobber over another team from Boston in any sport

There are several cities with higher populations that have only one team. Also, they'd need to build another park, and that would be a political nightmare.
