they say walking will bring on contractions now when i take walks i have bad cramps to where i have to stop walking and rest for a few mins..if i sit to long they go away all together... My question is are these contractions? And if they are should i keep walking so they stay there and not go away? Iam 38 weeks.. Doctor says i should be walking alot to trigger labor.. But im confused as to y they stop if they are realy contractions and if they are do i force myself to keep walking? Labor to trigger is what i want!

Yes, they are contractions, but not "labor contractions." Walking in the last weeks of pregnancy can cause a lot of Braxton-Hicks contractions, and they can actually become quite intense and painful, but if they eventually go away, you're not in labor - just practicing!

Even though walking is causing BH contractions, they probably won't stimulate you to go into actual labor if your body and baby are not ready yet. What walking WILL do is cause enough strong BH contractions to start dilating and effacing your cervix which will in turn get your body and baby closer to labor.

I would call your doc to make sure but they are prob BH contractions so keep walking real contractions don't go away. Your almost there good luck!
