If someone is considered talented, its because there is PEOPLE there who LIKE his talent.

Its more of a popularity contest.

Alot of 'great' artists werent considered great in their time because no one liked them, but years later because people started liking them for some reason they are considered great.

Well what talents are you referring to? All of the popular musicians who die young? It's because that lifestyle has become strongly linked with drug abuse and other self-destructive behavior.

They weren't "taken" before they had their chance, they embarked upon a path which has a pretty definite ending.

But this question is extremely vague. What does "make their mark" mean really? How do you define someone who made their mark and someone who didn't.

Many die from reckless behavior, but many great talents live and produce less noted but very good work when older. Its just that they become less famous so we only remember the news about young talent dying.

I don't know of any; if I did, then they would have already made a mark.
