Philosophy is the most important human venture: truth seeking. I mean philosophy is the fruit of geniuses' attempt to find the truth.
As you sure know it started from Plato (in a way) and even some people say whatever comes after Plato under the category of philosophy is merely footnote to him.
Anyhow, talking about philosophy of science the matter become a little narrowed down. For example in physics what somebody like Einstein said at his time was considered philosophical positions because they had not been proved yet--though many doubt them now too.
Some pessimists call it the art of justification which I do not personally agree with.
NOW, there is a problem. These troublesome postmodern philosophers say that there is no truth at all. this means the search of humanity for truth for over 2000 years has been in vain. Thus, there remains no clear definition for philosophy and.....well I have told you all up to this very moment.
