Help, please! I am in 9th grade, and I have seen everything they have in our books. Could I change to 10th grade? I have seen the things they are seeing there and I don't know that stuff, but I know what we are seeing right now. Could you help, or give opinions, please?

Speak to your school guidance counselor and ask if there are honors or advanced placement courses that you can take. Perhaps you can "test out" of your current subject area & into the next level. See if you can get tested for the gifted program at your school. Some schools have independent study programs that enable you to make up some of your coursework. In another year or two, you may be able to take some of your courses at the community college near you. These are all options to discuss with your guidance counselor, since s/he will need to process you.

Enlisting your parent(s) help wouldn't hurt, either.
Good luck!

In high school they don't "skip" grades. You will have to earn so many credits to advance in grade and credits must be earned in specific coursed to graduate. In some cases students are allowed to "fast track" high school and take all the required courses in 3-3.5 years. Fast Tracking isn't an easy prospect as it sometimes will require online course work, summer school or doubling up on classes.

Make an apt to talk to your school guidance counselor and let them know about your concerns/frustrations. Maybe you could be tested and then be moved into honors classes or into a gifted program that you would find more of a challenge. Talk to your teachers let them know about your concerns/frustrations. It is possible you could tutor a student who is struggling or the teacher can suggest additional/different work that would be more challenging.

If your semester is just starting, it's normal to go over material that you may already know. Most teachers review after being out of school for the summer. Over the next week or so, though, new material will be introduced. Sometimes, just because you have "seen" something doesn't mean that you are an "expert" on that material!

If you are comfortable with all of the material to be covered this year, great! It will be a wonderful year for you to get good grades and adjust to high school. Get involved in clubs, sports or activities at your school. It will give you the chance to meet people, learn something new, expand a hobby, etc.

Hope you have an amazing year!

Is it possible that you only know the things your class is doing right not because it is the beginning of the school year? Do you think it will get harder towards the end of the year? You could ask your class counselor if you would be able to test into 10th grade, it is possible.

It's the beginning of the school year... You're probably just reviewing all the stuff you learned throughout last year. If your teachers start making you learn new stuff "cold turkey", you're going to struggle. Teachers know learning/school is the LAST thing students think about during the summer, so they're going to start with a review. Talk to your teachers and guidance counselor and ask them what else they'll be teaching throughout the year. Trust me, you won't know everything.

After your first grading period ends, if nothing changes, then I would consider changing your schedule to advanced classes.

Find out if you can test out and go to the next level. See if there is any way you can transfer to another school or attend a private school when academic challenges might be better. Talk to the counselor about taking additional classes. There used to be courses offered out of the normal time frame of school. Talk to your counselor and find out what you can do to not be bored. Talk until you get answers.

You may be able to take a placement test and be moved up a grade. Or, you may be homeschooled or in a christian school....they mostly teach ABeka which is about 2 grade levels up from where you are at. so you end up being smarter than most kids in 3 years when you graduate

In high school they aren't just going to pass you up because you need a certain number of credits to graduate.
Talk to your counselor about being put in the Gifted or honors program also ask about acceleration (taking extra classes to finish early).
Whatever you do, don't let your performance fall off because
you are bored.

Well since your in high school you have a lot to choose from. Just take honors classes. Get your schedule changed for harder classes. Take an online class or two. Don't try to take the easy way out it will suck in the long run.

just sit there and do the best you can for right now.
the teachers will see that you are more advanced than the other students and may promote you to 10th.
i however will be stuck in 9th trying to get by.
but i make all A's and in honors.....i don't plan on going to 10th now.

Go to the front office and make an appointment to see the guidance counselor. Let him/her know that you are 'bored' w/ your studies and that you need to have classes that motivate you. I'm sure they have other courses available that will meet your needs. Schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
