1) However much food you give at a feeding should be completely eaten by the time 5 minutes are up (I use 2-3 minutes myself, but you might be reading this from a container of food - of course the company want you to feed the fish more, then you'll need to buy food more often, but you'll also have the extra wastes to clean up!). You can feed most fish the 2-3 minute amount twice a day. If you want to feed more often, figure out how much food he'd eat in the 2-3 minute time, double that (twice a day feedings), then divide that amount by the number of times you want to feed him. This way, you can feed more often, but you aren't giving him more food than he should be allowed in a day's time.

2) Other koi and goldfish are the best fish to keep with koi. But be aware that a koi can't be kept in a tank for long, unless you have a VERY LARGE tank - koi can get over three feet long, and should be kept in outdoor ponds.

3) It probably won't be a good idea to add a baby. You don't specify the type of cichlid, or your tank size, but most cichlids are territorial, so any new fish (unless of the opposite gender and the same species) may be seen as a rival. You can try taking him out first and rearranging the decor in the tank so when you put him back it's more like a "new" tank, but even then, I'd use caution and get a larger fish.

well, ive have about 7, really big koi, im talkin over a foot long, and i throw about 2-3 hand fulls of pellets in to my pond..... fish will eat them selfs to death really, so you basically just have to judge, give a hand full, if they eat it all, give it a lil more, then leave it,

as for other fish, well along with my koi, i have goldfish, shabunkins ( i cant spell lol ), ghost karp, an angel fish, thou there all pretty big so i dont have any bother with them, my smallest goldfish is about 6-7 inches long,

as for puttin a babyfish in with a big one, i wudnt do it,itll probably jut be eaten,

he seems to be hungry because fishes have no saturation feeling. in nature they do not find every day what to eat. because of this they eat all what they find.
