What do we do about the South problem?

The South is the biggest source of problems in America. They keep electing Republicans. They habve the biggest divorce rates, drug use rates. They oppress blacks and now hispanics. They have the lowest literacy rates. The lowest educational standards. The lowest rates of high school graduates going to college, highest drop out rates. Basicly dragging the whole country down with them.

So what do we do? Cut them out of the US and let them have their own country to run in to the ground, drop a nuke and just wipe them out, or use military force to enslave them and force them into improving themselves?

Number 1 your statistics are bull. You obviously cant be talking about the education of the south, with what you have just suggested. The only thing that is dragging this country down is the complete ignorance of people like you. Have you actually talked to any southern blacks or hispanics?, I can answer that, no you haven't. We have some of the top rated schools in this nation. You talk of oppression but yet, you suggest enslaving and nuking. All you have proved is you are, the uneducated, the oppressor and that you are dragging this country down with stupidity of the greatest range of anyone I have ever heard of. (By the way Miss Education.....Have is spelled have)!!!!!

A few years ago, the Southern States were almost all Democratic. When the Civil Rights Movement became a Liberal Cause, and Blacks were given equal rights, the South suddenly became Republican.

They were distressed because they could no longer drape themselves in sheets, ride out in the night to torture and hang a Black, then go to Church the next morning as good Christians do.

The Civil Right laws have improved the situation somewhat, but a great deal of bigotry still remains. The vitriolic anger of people like Rush Limbaugh have fueled their beliefs. Liberals, they believe, are lazy souls, hands out, enjoying their hard work and money. This mantra, pounded on by the Christian Right, who wanted a foot in the door of the Government in order to push their religious beliefs, was repeated again and again until a large number of people believed it.

Few Democrats are elected in the South, but people there are changing their political stance in many ways. They do not approve of Illegal Aliens being allowed in the country. Many of them do not approve of the war. But I don't know if they will go so far as to vote for a black Presidential candidate, or a woman.

Remember, the South had a favorite son, Strom Thurmond, deadset against civil rights for Blacks. While spouting this hatred, Thurmond fathered a child with his 15-year-old Black maid. I believe this story firmly illustrates the hypocrisy and bigotry of our Southern States. We can only hope that enough of their people are intelligent enough to realize how wrong they have been.

Say fool, one of the reasons the south has so many Republicans is, this is where so many of our military complexes are located. Statistically, you have your head stuck up your butt, when you talk about the progress made by southerners. Maybe you need to get away from lilly white Sioux Falls, or some such place, so you can learn a little about the happenings around the US.

The black oppression thing was pretty much gone by the middle of the war in Vietnam, especially in southern states. The Hispanics who are illegal, are fair game. Maybe more of us need to learn their tactics, it might discourage these people enough , so they will go home.

For my part, I'd rather have a southerner living next door, than some ill mannered snob, who thinks that only Yankee's deserve to breath !

There's so much wrong with your question that it's not even worth discrediting you point by point. You really need to pick up a book and do some research before posting your ASSumptions. I think the only thing you got right was that the Southern states have a very, very high rate of racism. As for your "suggestions," they just show how illiterate and unimaginatitve and selfish you are. It's no wonder foreigners think we Americans are stupid and undereducated.

Actually, the Northeast are the Welfare States, just like they always have been.

Why don't all of you Liberal Yankee jerks stay north of the Mason Dixon line. The reason is, you have screwed up the places where you live, now your moving to southern states and screwing them up with your, ITS MY WAY OR NO WAY ATTITUDE.
