195,000 years old. Found by Richard Leakey in Ethiopia, specifically on opposite sides of the Omo River in 1967. At first believed to be 130,000 years old, new dating techniques indicate the fossils are 65,000 years older than previously thought.

Claudia is correct... although as expected, the 195,000 yr date is hotly debated. The nice thing about science is that any mistake will eventually be uncovered. Regardless of the outcome, the discovery is over 150,000 yrs old & calls for a reevaluation of Homo Sapien evolution.
The DNA "clock" in the Homo Sapien Genome sets the timeline somewhere around 300,000 yrs ago, but no fossiles confirming this have been discovered.
