So we have these mysterious ants that had appeared out of nowhere. They are just hanging around on our kitchen table. I had to throw 3 boxes of cereal away! ='( I don't know where they are comming from! How can I get rid of them without randomly spraying raid or using traps? Thanks all. And we are clean people but these auts have found something and I don't know what they hell it is. I threw away the open foods that they could have gotten into, everything is sealed or in closed baggies.

Try using pic boric acid you can find this at any hardware or drug store mix it with sugar ants are cannibals once they eat the sugar mixed with boric acid they will travel back to their nest and die the colony will eat the dead ant and slowly will eradicate the colony.

I used the same stuff as S J the outdoor ant traps. We put them way under couch and in the back of our cabinets where our 1 and 2 year olds couldnt get them. We also used an Ortho spray on the outside. We pretty much coated any area they might be trying to get in. Doors, windows and the line between the foundation and bricks. Havent seen an ant all summer. Knock on wood.

I know you don't want to use ant traps but we had this same problem & it was the only thing that got it under control. My friend tapes the ant traps down so that the pets wouldn't move them. I found some at Wal-Mart mady by Grants that were ant steaks. They were ant traps with the little plastic steak on the end so you could put them close to the house. We used the steak end under the baseboards to keep them from moving. Ants are really hard to deal with. Good luck. Hopefully you'll get them under control soon!
