I get a lot of this from my mother. I honestly think using humiliation helps them feel like they still have some type of control over your life, Even if it causes friction or bad feelings between you. My mom puts it off like no big deal, but it does cause bad feelings. She knows by humiliating me she can have some control because I'm gonna find her and let her know exactly what I think. She's very good at manipulation too.

They are stuck in learned patterns of relationships. Children are always children to their parents, even after they grow up. Some parents can't get past that.

I don't think they are trying to humiliate their children. I think sometimes they still remember their little ones & like to reminese about the times they remember fondly. Children grow way too fast for parents.

maybe the parents think it's cute to see them squirm (bonus- they look like kids again too)!
