Honda Shadow Exhaust?

Question

I have a Original Issue exhaust on my 7 year old Honda shadow ACE and noticed today that there is a small drilled hole near the rear bracket. Is this standard or is this a modification?

It's a drain hole to allow moisture to drain out.
When the air temperature drops, the humidity in the air accumulates and puddles in the muffler.
Without a means to escape, the mufflers would rust from the inside-out.
