I guess a rabbit cunsumes the most cal/g because it's small and so it looses body heat more quickly.
A bear cunsumes the most total calories because it's big and it's warm blooded. Warm blooded animals need a lot more calories the cold blooded

Bergman's rule discusses the concept of relating the surface area of an animal to its volume.
This relates to size advantages.
Small animals like shrews have ratios of 3:1 surface to volume. They have a lot of skin on the outside compared to a small volume of bones, blood, and internal organs on the inside. They loose heat fast so eat a lot to refuel.
A rabbit will eat more than a bear per unit body mass however an alligator is cold blooded (poikilothermic) so needs much less food for its size since it does not control its own body temperature. So if the gator is small like the rabbit then rabbit needs more calories to function.
