I accidentally left a USB memory stick in a pants pocket and I just found it in the bottom of the washer after going through a whole wash cycle. Should I dare stick it in the computer?

Some USB sticks have little screws to take it apart. If you can do that, you can dry it out and possibly try it out. Make sure you remember how you took it apart, so you can put it back together. Dry off what you can with a paper towel, and then leave the pieces to dry in front of a fan, or use a cool blow dryer.

After it's dry, put it back together and see if it still works.

If it was me, I would take the time to get it dry first. I think you could stick it in as long as the connector is dry (inside and out). If you get it dry first, it might actually work. The water inside might be keeping it from working.

Just give it a day or so to dry out first and it will be fine.

I have accidentally washed and dried my usb drive twice and have not lost any data yet.

If it's dry now it's probably safe to put in the computer, but probably won't work anymore.
