My personality is one where I could easily stay at home by myself for a week - during the summer holidays I have gone out very infrequently - but I'm waiting to head off to university and I can start socialising much more there. I guess I want to know whether there are any other people who could if they wanted go out more, but just can't be bothered/ motivated to.

I could easily stay at home also. And have many times for a week or more.
I have suffered with Depression off and on all my life and sometimes staying at home is good enough for me.
When I do get out I have a good time and I am very Social.
Its not healthy, so you really need to force yourself out.
Good thing you will go heading off to the University soon.
You will get more motivated once you are there. If not you may talk to a counselor about it..
