No joke, why do we continue to reward these inmates. They have the "right" or "choice" not to commit crimes. But we have no"choice" or "rights" in how we deal with them once they have forced themselves upon us as an unwanted responibility. Curentlly we are forced and expected to shelter, feed, provide medical care, and the biggest joke of all...rehabilitate these decision makers. This is truelly a massive injustice to the people who foot this bill. Basically we have set up a reward(no work....but plenty of food, shelter, ect) for not playing by the rules.Yes, prison is a reward.I beileve they should terminate all prisoners, and close the prisons. "Death, with no chance of incaceration" for all crimes sounds like it's just what these decision makers need to finally and fully understand that we are done spending our money on their reward program. I don't know what it cost to build and opperate a prison, but dumping these leaches in a self dug grave must be more cost effective.

It is no reward. You have obviously never stepped foot inside a prison. What we need to be doing is decriminalizing things that harm no one else (such as personal drug abuse) so we will spend less money on non-violent offenders and not let out violent offenders because of over crowding.
Your views on life are nothing but sad. Sometimes people make mistakes.

The death penalty for a non violent criminal offense is just offensive and will never be the laws of our land - heaven forbid.

In California we spend about $7 billion a year on prisons I believe and are being told they are overcrowded and must let the bad guys go. Personally I think we have a solution to our problems in Iraq here - we simply build prisons over there - and all of a sudden the people have jobs and our inmates (in orange jump suits) won't really want to escape into the desert. It is a win win situation.

Forgetting my moral reasons for opposing the death penalty, and forgetting the fact that many people in prison are innocent and would be wrongly executed, I'd like to know where we set the cutoff point for death instead of prison.

I can see murder, possibly rape. What about someone who steals things? How much do they have to steal? If someone steals a loaf of bread because they are hungry, do you kill them? What about people who commit serious crimes against our country, like Bush and Cheney? Should we get rid of them? What if Bush pardons himself?

And while we save money on prisons, we still have to pay for a court system to have trials. Or are you against putting people on trial also? I guess we can save money by having the police directly bring the accused from his home to the execution chamber. Maybe we can ship them to China so they can be killed more cheaply by low wage workers? You are a sicko!

Some people in prison are innocent. Your views are too extreme. Some prisons have prisoners doing some work.

You ever see the Movie "Dirty Dozen"? I say send them to Iraq and the Mideast and bring the good boys home.

So what's next? Shooting people for traffic violations?

And what do we do with the innocent people that are jailed "by mistake"?
