Oh, now there's a good excuse. It's because of the library. Then maybe we need to think of all the LIBRARIES.....NEXT time we UNILATERALLY START a war that DIDN'T NEED fighting. Let's made sure our future Presidents are aware of whether our TROOPS can be given POSTWAR, not just PREWAR attention. These brave Americans are people, not photo op backgrounds.
It's a lot easier STANDING BEHIND a young healthy enthusiastic Marine in full gear and readiness...WHILE HE'S STANDING. He doesn't need you for that. He needs your help when he's banged and broken.
We may live in an era of DISPOSABLE EVERYTHING, but don't count our TROOPS among the landfill refuse. This is indeed our NATIONAL SHAME!

it just isnt true what you say and you are pulling at straws. The government funded VA system has always had some probs but not just under repub control.....best answer here I copied below:
aving spent 12 years in the military and having served under both Republican and Democratic administrations, I can assure you that places like WALTER REED HOSPITAL didn't all of a sudden go from paradise under the Clinton Administration to hell on earth overnight once Bush took office. You're very, VERY misinformed, and to simply blame the Republicans - I'm guessing because as a liberal you feel it justified - shows that you are both letting anger cloud the REAL truth and/or simply naive regarding the treatment of vets. You might want to ask why Democrat's prefer tax INCREASES to veteran's benefits? They've done NOTHING for the troops in the last forty-years. Nothing.

Yep, can't deny it. Congress HAS cut VA spending over the past year. Hmmm. NANCY? Mr. MURTHA?
Currently, our elected President is trying to reallign the VA system for determining disability. As it has been for waaay too long, the branch of service from which you retired or were put out first gives you a percentage. Then, you must take THAT percentage to the VA where they reassess your disability and determine how much assistance or tax free dollars you rate. It's a mess. I for one was recommended at 80-100% by the Navy. I never filed with the VA. I get less than $1000 a month in a retirement pension. I then have to pay out for health insurance -- that had been promised to me and my family for life but was cut by the democrats years ago...
Under the Clinton administration (had I filed), I would have to drive three hours one way for my monthly health care at the "local" VA. Thanx to President Bush and the VA, they are now completing construction of a new VA hospital less than twenty minutes away. Should I file? Yeah, probably, but I've never been one to take charity. But, $3,000 a month tax free would sure help.
Oh the things you never hear about in the news. could it be that the news media has a liberal agenda? could be rabbit. Could be...

WoW!!! properly i presumed MY husband became a mommas boy! you have married your self to an particularly immature mommas boy. The bible even says a guy is to go away his parents and cleave to his spouse. you won't be in a position to stay as a married couple and make a kinfolk if he in basic terms should be up below his momma consistently. Is he nonetheless breastfeeding? perchance thats why he's there for all time LOL. Sorry yet for genuine, you will spend something of your marriage in opposition along with his mom in case you do no longer positioned a end to it now. i'm coping with that now and its a no win concern. I truthfully think of you should evaluate different techniques and seek for a guy who's extra on your point.

That is a wonderful question, and I am astonished that more people are not asking it. The Veterans Administration is underfunded and undermanned, and is not equipped to care for the Iraqi wounded, especially those with TBI (traumatic brain injury), which is in the tens of thousands.. These vets are being left to rot, as the only concern of Bush is putting more bodies into Iraq.
He cares nothing for the dead, and the wounded. This is a national disgrace, and should be a topic discussed at the various debates in both isles, and may be another impeachable offense of the Tyrant.

because libs would bellyache if we completely shutdown the "foundation for non-U.S. Citizens who stubbed their toes whilst committing criminal acts " fund. the economy would suffer greatly from countless bleeding hearts who lost their self-created jobs.
it might be nice if we all let the military do their job, instead of causing it to drag on and on. ( i still don't get how that works... 'wait till the bullet strikes ya' kid, then you have permission to fire... uh oh, looks like you don't have this form filled out in triplicate.......)
unfortunately, we must cut across the board - but you can bet that a lot of us are there trying to help out the best we can... not antagonizing and spitting and insulting... or setting up fund after fund to give ourselves jobs and power over the very people we pretend we care about.
...the money COULD be there for them, BUT...........

Who says we forget about them? I think the problems with the VA hospital reflect more on how poorly things get done when it is under the umbrella of Government bureaucracy. And now people want to put ALL of our health care into "government hands"? No Thank You.

Huh? The problems in the VA go back many years....VA care has been crappy since at least The Nam. This is caused by Congress spending freely on their pet pork projects. Course you didn't complain when they built that library/bridge/whatever in your town did you?
And USA, great avatar, it's the people like you who need to be ****** ****** **** *** *** you are.

The republican hypocrite's can no longer use them to their political advantage.
In Bush's speech to Veterans of Foreign Wars national convention on Wednesday, August 22, 2007. Did not mention Walter Reed hospital or Veterans Benefits.
