No they can't. As intelligent as they are compared to other baby animals, human babies cannot defend themselves.

But you alreay knew that.

I am assuming you are talking about HUMAN babies.
As far as I know, the only defence that babies have is to scream their little lungs out.
This is also their way of letting the parents know that something needs attention - like a diaper change or feeding time.

No, only in the movies. Infants are helpless, they have some reflexes but no self defense.

No, they have trouble tying on boxing gloves from birth to six months. Up until a year they don't have teeth, but after that they tend to bite kneecaps.

I know boy babies can. My cousin got my uncle at 5 feet away. Right in the face.

No not at all... they don't have the strength to be able to defend themselves nor the idea or reflexes.
