it was 8th grade, yeah a childish time, but it ended HORRIBLY. i haven't seen him since then and his profile is private, should i add him?

yes! lol. like you said. 8th grade was a childish times, what'd you expect? 8) you and him didnt know any better. things change, people change, you could still get along with him like normal friends and just catch up... right? plus if he's a jerk, you always have the option of deleting him 8)

depends what message you are trying to give him. i mean first off, it was 8th grade, chances are he may have forgotten about the break up and even about you. but if you want to see how hes doing, it will not hurt to add him, i mean he can always reject your invitation. if you feel it was stir up some 5 yr old feelings, then maybe you shouldn't.

There's no harm in it!! i mean i had one of those relationships with this guy he hated me after it ended and after a few years we started talking again and now have a good relationship going on!! Might lead to something good!! I'm sure he's gotten over it!!x

why not? 5 years ago is a long time... 8th grade is a long time ago... whats the harm? If he declines to accept, it doesnt cause you harm. if he accepts, then u can talk again.
