I have 2 DDR RAM Modules that actually say DDR on the label, and I have 2 that dont say DDR, they just say Kingston KVR something something, and they say SDRAM. They fit and work in the same slots that the DDR was in. Does that mean they are DDR also.? In other words, does each type of RAM have its own identifyable slot configuration??

sdr sdram= runs at 100 ,133 or 200 mhz; 168 pins/ 2notches

ddr sdram= runs at 266 (PC2100), 333 (PC2700) and 400mhz (PC3200); 184 pins/single notch

ddr2 sdram= runs at 400 (PC2 3200) ,533 (PC2 4200), 667(PC2 5300) or 800mhz (PC2 6400); 240 pins/ single notch

These three types are NOT interchangeable. Mixing different sizes and speed for each type normally work but usually not at optimum level.

SDRAM is actually a parent to DDR, DDR 2, etc. Basically saying, all DDR is SDRAM. However, all types of RAM have different slots that they fit into. For example, you can't fit DDR2 into DDR or vis versa. Check out some reading on SDRAM at wiki for clarifications.

yes it does

e.g
the full ram name is "ddr333 sdram pc2700 dimm"
means that the ram is ddr ( double data rate ) dimm means that its meant for desktops
pc2700 sums this all up.
pc3200 is another standard ; ddr400 sdram

sdram is old but the pins are the same, if you install
sdram with ddr sdram it will slow down your computer
because ddr sdram can reach speeds that sdram cant

your motherboard cant except other than ddr
there is ddr2 now ....

If they all fit in the slots--they will be the same kind. DDR and DDR2 arent interchangeable.

you are going to be able to desire to compare the form (i.e. DDR, DDR2 or DDR3) and the linked fee (i.e. 800 MHz) it isn't the comparable speed as your CPU. the form and speed ought to be categorised on your cutting-edge RAM someplace.
