0n Aug 22 I went to the bank. the bank teller transfered 500 dollars from checking to savings then I gave her500 cash to put in my checking account. she then handed me my recipt and I was on my way. Then on Aug 24 I went to the bank to takemoney from my savings and asked for a print out of my checking acct and I was 500 short. On the paper it showed that the bank took out my 500 dollars! I asked them why and they said they cannot explain why but the teller was short 500 & i will be credited that money. I still had all my recipts and the print out showed both 500 depostits one for cash & one trans for 500. I went home and called the automated service & my money 500 did not post! I called the teller who did all these trans. she denied I made any deposits although I have all the documents(I also have copies of her cash in tickets where it shows she did accept cash & deposit into my acct. The bank said I may have to swallow $500 I do not know what to do HELP! What next I am so sick!

Thanks for advice but I went to the bank manager his manager then finally the vice pres of the bank firm & he was the one who said that Him & the pres said i may have to "swallow" my 500! That the only thing they could suggest was to use another teller next time! I did not have enough characters to explain this in my initial message

I had to have 1000 in my checking account to use my debit card. I had 500 of it in savings and 500 in my purse that was cash. They transferred the money from my savings to my checking first . then they gave me a recipt of that transaction. Then I gave them 5 $100 bills and they put that into my checking account as well and gave me a recipt for that deposit. Also I asked for If they had any tapes to view or a security dept. I could contact to view the tapes and they told me that it was not necessary to do that. That their teller has been there for 1 yr with no problems! I am so confused! Thank you guys so much for helping

Okay this is Bull ****. Ive worked in many banks. You have receipts, that show you transferred 500 dollars. You have a receipt that you deposited 500 dollars into checking.

Here is your issue if you deposited the 500 dollars before the 500 transfer they could say you deposited 500 dollars and then transferred it.

Now if you transferred it, and then made your deposit and the bank prints you a sheet for that day on your account. It will show the transfer of the 500 out, but will show no deposit. Then you hand them your deposit receipt and you say *where the hell is it?*. They say oh yeah we didnt show you made a deposit. Or they say yeah your deposit has this transaction number. See you deposited it before you took out the 500. This should be very simple.

If their transactions show the 500 that you gave them, that makes your deposit slip and your daily report. The bank didnt screw up. If they dont match, the bank messed up. Then you have them call in the security department. And pull that camera for that day at the time of your transfer.

They go like this.... *click* *click* *click* on the computer and they see you all hanging out with the teller. They will see you make a deposit, or they will see you didnt make a deposit. This is actually really simple to fix.

Somebody has to be wrong, but so you know its rarely the bank, but banks can be wrong. Its extremely simple to prove who is right or wrong with your receipt. Now if the teller had 500 extra in her drawer, that is just as bad as not having 500. They would have caught it that night. In our bank nobody left until we found it. Even if we were their until 2 in the morning.

Good luck.

*update* Yeah I read that again. Still makes sense to me SCH, fine I abit confusing but I had alot to say and that was my short version. SCH all she has to do is write what I wrote and you wrote and hand it to idiot (err bank manager), he will understand it just fine. *smile*. Just pisses me off when people get screwed over, especially banks. I always assumed the customer was right, but usually proved them wrong. They arent even trying. Thats just annoying.

Back to the question at hand.

I dont give a **** if its necessary or not, have then pull up the damn tape or go to the managers manager. Somebody is always higher on the totem pole. Fine the CEO of the company and send him a letter overnight. They love that. Send a copy of it, to the bank manager and assistant manager. Make sure you show that they were Cc'ed at the bottom.

Next call a radio station or TV station that gets to the bottom of things and puts it on the air. They love to do that especially if you can back it up. Hell if I was manager I would just give you the 500.

The more you add the less I believe.
1. NO bank will give you copies of the tellers cash in ticket without a court order.
2. ANY bank manager would correct your account on the spot with HALF the evidence you claim.
3. The bank may deny you ever made a deposit, but would not say YOU may have to eat the loss. That statement would guarantee a lawsuit AND a loss in the lawsuit.
4. Not even an incompetent manager will refuse to investigate an accusation like the one you made.

'Workreallybites' is 100% correct, if not a little bit confusing...

There is a security camera pointed at every teller in every bank for this reason...so a teller cannot pocket someone's cash deposits. You need to demand for them to watch the securtiy tapes with them...

If they refuse to watch the security tapes and they refuse to accept your proof then you need to file a police report. Banks are very wary of tellers and usually the burden of proof falls on them to prove they didn't screw up the transaction (ie they side witht he customer)...so I am a little leary of your problem here.

I don't really understand why you didn't just deposit the $500 in cash to your savings account instead of transfering from checking and then depositing into checking. Did you fill out your own slips? Always always always fill out your own slips...

Good Luck

Speak to the Branch Manager and tell him what happened. If he doesn't question the teller than you know you need to go up the ladder. Show all your paperwork (please take copies and do not give originals to anyone!) and they should take a couple of days before they get back with you because they have to pull backup tapes on the date of the transaction. Also contact the corporate office and make them aware of what is going on. They will also check everything out.

If you have the receipts the teller accepted the money then they are out of luck.

I would go talk to the branch manager about this immediately. The teller of course is not going to "Remember."

If you get no satisfaction go directly to the headquarters of the bank and talk to them. I'm sure the president of the bank would love to hear all of this.

I'm afraid that isn't good enough. It sounds like the teller pocketed some money. I would file a police report.

It's too overdue to take your title off the account. It's more often than not too overdue to tug any price range out of the financial institution account. They more often than not grab the account BEFORE providing you with observe that they're attaching the account. Yes, your spouse can dossier individually. I'm now not certain they may be able to connect Federal tax refunds, however they may be able to more often than not take the state refund.
