You may as well throw them away and try again next year. There's no way, living in NY, that you can plant them outside and they will survive the winter. Even five feet into the ground and they would still freeze. Also, you don't have enough space in your house to grow them, unless they are the itty, bitty watermelons. Then you need lots of sunlight (or grow lights) a ten gallon container full of soil and a trellis or some astro turf for them to sit on while they grow.

Try again next year hon. You'll have a better chance of getting fruit.

There is not enough time left in this year's growing season to plant them outdoors. If you plant them 3 feet deep they will not grow at all. I don't think they would make a good houseplant.

You could go ahead and plant them outside just to see what they do. Save some seeds for next Spring.

It's better to plant in spring about the end of May to first part of June to plant watermelon. Indoors it will not get enough sunlight during the short daylight hous to help sustain it.

Yes, it is too late to grow them, but just for fun plant them in a container of potting soil, put them in a south facing window and watch them grow. It will be fun even it you don't get any fruit.
