Agreed - you put in way too much oil. Drain it back out, it wont need more then a 1/4- 1/2 quart. Try to clean as much oil out of the combustion chamber as possible , you can risk the chance of snapping the flywheel key by trying to compress oil. Youll probably need another new plug as well.

Your main problem is that it's a Crappsman mower (just kidding)
Sounds like you overfilled the oil and it has flooded your carburetor. The bad thing is it has now stopped up your carb. First get the oil to the correct oil level. Won't do any good to do anything without fixing the main problem first. Next you are going to have to clean the carb. Get some intake cleaner like Berryman's B12 chemtool (available at any auto parts store or Walmart). Pull the spark plug and get as much oil off of it as you can with the cleaner. Remove your air filter and spray cleaner in the intake. Let it soak for a few minutes and then try to start mower. It may run very rough but if you can get it started then a little bit at a time keep spraying cleaner into air take until smoking stops and mower running better. If this doesn't work then you will have to have carb repaired professionally. It is going to smoke a lot at first but the cleaner should help break down the oil and help burn it off. If this works and you get mower running then change spark plug. (not before because it will just get fouled again and you wasted money.) Good luck.

It is likely overfilled. Drain the oil and replace the sparkplug, and buy a spare since the new one will likely foul as well. If there is no dip stick fill the oil to the bottom of the threads of the oil fill hole.

did you OVER fill the oil ? it should only take one qt, or less,
should be up to the full mark on the dipstick, no more,
check it, if too full drain it again slowly add till its full on the Stick, remove plug , squirt some fuel into the spark plug hole, leave plug out crank engine over, to blow excess out, clean plug with gas, reinstall and try to start, when it starts it will blow and somke till the excess oil is burnt out,
