I will be transplanting mine in the autumn (the fall) when the flower has long gone and it will be settled for its new growth in the spring,the lilac flowers here in may ( Ireland) and it was the lilac that I choose to grow for the birth of my first and second grandchildren .

Wait a couple more months, until a little cooler weather comes, or, you can wait until spring. keep plenty of water on the roots when planting and water plenty thereafter.
