To be frankly honest, I'm worried about my GMAT score... As much as I hope to find a program that looks beyond quantitative skills (which is one reason I need b-school), I know they rely heavily on it... Realistically, I don't think I can retake the test and get a higher score on the math piece.. Am I being unrealistic in wanting to get into a top 10 program?

The average GMAT score for top 10 business schools is closer to 700 but you could get into some very good business schools like Vanderbilt

Your math scores on the GMAT will be a huge factor in the schools decision making process. It is much lower than the people currently applying there now.

It also kind of makes a difference where you got your undergrad too. A good state-supported or recognized private school should do.

You have work experience and that is a plus. You also have the Spanish major under your belt. So, a school may overlook your math scores because you are bi-lingual. Plus, your scores on your GMAT in verb and essay will be a huge plus. It shows that you can express yourself in a clear and concise way.

AND, the admissions folks know that math can be taught. Writing and clearly expressing yourself through the written word is something not easily taught.

Before you apply, make sure you have had at least 1 full year of calculus. Also, make sure you have had at LEAST one Statistics course with a Calculus pre-req....

But, why in the hell would you wanna spend the money on b-school when you are already pulling down 90k per year? If b-school takes you two years to complete then thats 180k that you just lost in salary. Alot of people dont make 180k in 5 years. You could make it in 2. Plus, the cost of a top 10 b-school isn't cheap. Doesnt make any sense to me.

Good Luck!
