I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 1721 Laptop. It came in the post pretty much all ready to go, but I can't find any literature with it explaining how I go about using this thing when I'm not plugged in on my cable connection at home. I never owned a laptop before, and obviously I don't know much at all about computers, so I am baffeled on how a laptop works when I take it out of the house. Are there certain cards or devices I need to plug in here somewhere when let's say I want to take it with me to a library? If somebody could walk me through this basic stuff about laptops, I'd really appreciate your help. I need a basic Laptop 101 lecture, if you will. By the way, is there a difference between a laptop and a notebook? And what is Wi-Fi?

There are two issues, power and network connection. For power it should have a battery which will allow it to continue to operate for an hour or two after the mains power is removed. For network connection you either need to have it plugged in to a wired connection or you need a wireless connetion. The wireless connection is not a standard part of a laptop and it requires support from wherever you are, someone has to provide a base station.

So if you are trying to surf the internet when not connected and away from home then you are going to need an 802.11 wireless card, or even a data card supplied by a cell phone company, but those are more expensive, though they also work in more places.

Once you have your wireless card... follow the instructions.

Wi-Fi means "Wireless Fidelity" and it's a standard for 802.11 connectivity as well as being a classic example of BS marketing terms. Wi-Fi is the most usual way of providing wireless network connectivity.

There's no real difference between a laptop and notebook, just size, notebooks tend to be smaller. Or used to. But these days they are used interchangeably.

first laptop=notebook no difference
the lap top should work as usual if you unplug it you don't have to do anything except make sure it is plugged in for a good amount of time, usually the laptop can take 1 hour to charge and two hours without being plugged in to lose the charge , otherwise you need to plug it if you are going to work for a long time
wifi is an internet that is available as a wireless network, here is you do to connect
look beside the clock at your lower right corner of the screen you should find an icon that controls the wifi double click it and from the ecreen that will pop up you will find an option to view available network, if you are in a public place like start bucks choose the network that is not secured and have the name that looks about right (for example, starbucks, or internet) then the computer will connect and you use it as usual.

other wise you need somebody beside you to teach you some more

Ok. Laptop/notebook= used interchangeably. Wi-fi is wireless frequency, like how you access the internet wirelessly. If you want to not plug it in you need a router. Go to circuit city or best buy. The router is easy to set up and comes with instruction. Your computer should have wireless in it since it is new.

If the pony has dark epidermis the hair will possibly be dark, if the floor is pink the hair would be white! pink skinned horses can get terrible sunburn distinctly on the muzzle, by using fact it is so confusing to colour that section.
