I am using a "Clear Water" formula to help clear the cloudiness of my tank, and the directions say "remove carbon from filter during use". I can't just take the carbon out of the filter, but my filter is a hang one filter with 2 sort of sponges. One is white with carbon, the other is more rough and is black.

So my question is can I just remove the one sponge-like thing with the carbon from the filter? I hope I made sense....

I guess if you have an external hang on filter you would know what I'm taking about =)

Take it out. There must be adequate micro organism interior the gravel and tank and clear out itself to no longer reason many problems. only had to characteristic, interior the destiny it is not had to rely fullyyt on carbon filters for organic and organic filtration. you ought to have some extra type of bio sponges in there or something, that should save each little thing working ok ought to you ought to eliminate the carbon clear out. Our tanks are properly ordinary, we don't even use carbon in our filters.

Please don't use any chemicals, they do more harm then good

I don't know if your tank is new or not, but if it is it's in the cycling process, and cloudiness is absolutely normal
Please read through the following articles about cycling a tank

If it's an established tank, and you just did a partial waterchange on it, leave it as it is, it will clear up in about 24 hours

Hope that helps
Good luck
