It's a brass one - NOT silver, i.e. the 12-sided version with Edward VII left profile on front and a thrift plant on the back

It's a brass 12-sided one with Ed VIII in left profile one side and a thrift plant on the other. A bit dirty in condition but details are not noticably worn and clearly visible.

Edward VIII was the king who abdicated before his coronation. This coin was to be newly introduced (no 12-sided coin had been used before in UK). It was only issued for slot machine companies to experiment with. I believe that only 12 were ever minted.

I think there are millions of them.

When the new coins came in, most people who still had some, put them away as a keepsake.

The old joey was a very popular coin.

I have a mint set in a plastic case, but they are not worth more than a couple of quid.

Try this Metal Detecting site, they have info on coins - also check "spinks" (book of coins) for a value

Fingers cross, they're worth something

Nope i don't think it's worth a lot though because coins are found all the time, i have one with my birthdate on it and my friends do as well.

Look on ebay and see if you can find one and see what it is selling for. Just to get a general idea. If the price seems high I would get it appraised, if not just hold onto it for your kids. It may be worth something someday.
