I was stopped last year on a DUI.
I hadn't been drinking.
He said I crossed a double yellow line.
One doesn't exist there.
He said I was driving 25 mph in a 40 mph zone.
It was a 25 mph zone.
He said I continued driving slowly.
I was; it was a DPW construction zone.
He said I didn't turn on my right signal.
There's only one way to drive in that lane, right.
The officer did not take a field breathylyzer.
He said he wasn't able to collect adequate data.
Well, you can't collect data if you don't try.
He said I didn't have my license.
After a search through my house,
I found it in the car under the driver's mat.
He said I failed the breathylyzer.
He pinched the tube,
and didn't connect it to the machine.
He said I didn't ask for medical help.
Someone forged my signature
on the form waiving my rights.
The EMTs came to the station.
I listened as they laughed,
and drank coffee.
My blood pressure was 165/100.
They didn't take me to the hospital.
The officer didn't mention
searching my vehicle
and opening boxes and boxes
of new art supplies for my studio.
In court he said it was a dry night.
It was foggy and rained 2.55".
Two weeks later, the judge
said something -- dismissed.
I am 56.
A woman.
A former Democrat,
who became a Republican
later in life.
I have spent my life
living by the rules.
My "experience" cost
$11,250, and change.
It took one year and
one month from my life.
I am a former journalist
who no longer trusts the press.
The local newspaper ran the story
as if everything were true.
No one asked me questions.
They quoted the Chief of Police
who wasn't even there.
I think my emotions
run more along the lines
of loathing, not fear.
I closed my studio.
I can't stomach painting
in that town anymore.
I stopped driving.
I rarely leave my home.
The next time you learn
of someone's arrest.
Remember why in the
US courts of justice
we are supposed
to listen to the evidence.
Thank goodness for me
the courts listened.
I wish the same for anyone else
who has been arrested,
or who might be.
God Bless America.

Growing up we were taught that the Police were the Good Guys who would protect us from the Bad Guys. Lately though, having seen some police being rather harrassing to people outside the public library, I have become worried when I see a patrol car. Today in the local news it was revealed that Friday morning there was a major bust. The police entered 100 homes in the area busting GANG MEMBERS. Gangs in LA cause most of the crime statistics and I'm glad to hear it. I think "That's who they should be focusing on, not people who are eating and drinking and talking outside the library!

I knew of a guy who was pulled over once by a cop who was said to have planted evidence in his trunk. Back then there wasn't any video cameras on the squad cars and the cop was found with his neck broken laying on the street. Oddly enough the man was never charged with the death of the cop and the wife never collected his pension either. Some people are paranoid especially when they have an arrest history and are usually "rolled" just because of priors or being out of town in a drug dealing area. A person who is schizophrenic would most likely have a natural fear or paranoia of law enforcement, especially when they are having a paranoid delusional episode.

At the age of 15, my nephew was coming home at night from work and two police cars pulled over and told him to take his hands out his pocket. They began to frisk and search him and asked him where he just came from and he replied work. After that traumatic incident, now several years later he still has fear of police because he could not understand at that young age why the police would stop him and do those things to him. It was like he was some type of criminal. He is black and of course the cops were white.

I know someone who has a fear of the police. He has a number of psychological problems, one of which is stalking certain people. He does not harm anyone but he was a pest and disrupts there work and lives, kind of like the movie What about Bob? He does not like the police because they were involved in stopping him.

I concern the police bc I usually get the sensation that they think of everyone seems to be interior the incorrect and that they are seeking to furnish some style of nascence's fee ticket. additionally, I truthfully have in no way even considered or have heard of a sturdy officer come to confirm everyone I truthfully have ever talked to approximately them says they do no longer shelter them. i don't sense I brake the regulation even even with the shown fact that, they're experienced to be intimidating it quite is like a severe to them. those that try this are worse in my opion than the individuals who're on the medicine. to boot, it is not a sturdy element so you may well be wearing around drugs it quite is in basic terms inviting complication into your existence.

I am sure that many folks fear symbols of authority. It seems logical that some may have reasons to fear the police because they might be arrested. There has been cases of abusive policemen. I think most law enforcement officers are dedicated folks who put their lives on the line for the rest of us.
