When you dial a toll free number, the party at the other end pays the long distance charges. A previous poster mentioned porn calls (as in phone sex.) If you want to call one of those, do it from a pay phone and keep your credit card in your wallet.

The owner of the 800 number pays for the call. If you call with a cell phone you pay as most cell plans charge you minutes for most any call.

Not on your bill, but it will to the number called. Just be sure that your call doesn't then get transferred to another number that is NOT toll free to you - that's a commom scam.
