Learning how to play soccer is not something that can be done in a matter of months.
Even the professionals are still learning every day. No one knows all the tricks but you can improve your skills with constant practice.
First of all, you should make sure you are in shape by running and jogging.
Because soccer involves a lot jumping and running, it can take a toll on your knee so make sure your thigh muscles are in good shape.
Go to the Gym and work on your thigh muscles. It will help you stay strong.
Secondly, Get a good soccer shoe and a good soccer ball.
When ever you have time go out and play street soccer with the guys, it helps to keep you sharp.
Finally, don't expect to be good over night but keep on practicing and playing. In time you will reach a satisfactory level.
Good luck and be careful.

well for one make sure you know how to run for long periods of time that is something that is very important .. coaches dont want to see you get tired easy , another thing you need to learn how to dribble the ball and have total ball control if you have that then you should be ok .. since total ball control is just the most important thing , drills help with learning to get ball control just buy cones to pass through..
go here to learn about laws of the game and field positions so you dont look like a good when you go to tryouts and you dont know where that position is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer#Laws_of_the_game
look through there .. theres lots of things you should know before you start .. umm im not sure what else you would want help in but if you do dont be afraid to ask =]

well the others may think soccer's gay I however LOVE soccer. I have been playing for 16 years now and am obseesed... if I were you I'd buy a ball nothing expensive about $10-$15 go to the local field and practice kicking... you kick with your laces not your toe... that hurts!! also maybe you could think about possitions... theres middy defense offense and goal. i play mid and goal. bring a frined with you and have him play nett... shoot on him. you try nett. either that ORRRRR talk to a soccer player at your school and ask them to show youy the basics. THE 2ND ONE MAY BE BEST hope i could help!

Soccer is easy to pick up and play if u want to casually play, but hard to master
make sure u know all of the rules of soccer by going to sites such as wikipedia.org and fifa.org (or .com)
practiceur dribbling alot, as well as ur shooting, by going to ur local field, practice ur throw ins
its all a matter of practice practice and more practice
maybe u can get one of ur friends who know how to play very well or a coach to teach u, there are some great drills on the internet

all u have to do is learn the basics. You cannot touch it with ur hands, the object is to get the ball in the oppents goal,u have to wear shin guards and cleats,& on thro ins (thats when the ball rolls out of bounds)u must keep ur feeet on the ground.
only the "keepers"(those are the guys that protect the goal)can touch it with their hands.thats all u really need to know!
good luck!
