Indians are generally found to be infatuated with whites, mainly bcoz of their complexion.Maybe, thts the reason why fairness creams enjoy such a huge market in India.

Its not bcoz of the whites' genes, but maybe bcoz the British ruled in India for many years. Many Indians of those times adopted the tendency of looking upto them, bcoz they were "Oh..So fair..." and subsequently handed this tendency down to the younger generations.

What these people don't realise is tht its not the complexion tht matters. If a person's mind and mentality is gud, then tht person would be truly beautiful no matter what colour his complexion potrays !

I once heard a lecturer quoting from a historical book that during the time of slavery of whites and blacks, alike, and when prisoners of war were enrolled into slavery, a Roman Emperor insisted that he preferred slaves of Eastern origin over Western origin because he liked intelligent slaves.

I would feel at ease with a person with intelligence regardless of his complexion.
I am white; if I were restricted to a choice between a white and a black person, I would pick the one with a better intelligence.

It is intelligence that gives a beauty to the human race.

It's a power condition--had the Africans had the power to import White slaves from the New Continent to Africa, then it would be reversed. If I understand your Qu, I think it's because the British colonized Inida for ---what 100 yrs??? The Indians had to learn English and the English code of civial and legal laws inorder to survive. They held this as advantages over others--as the whole world does. Money and power wield control over others. But...I'm sure, if the African continent can unify someday, they may rule over us.

It's not just people from India, it's black people here in the USA. For some dumb reason, the darker you are, the more you are looked down upon by your own race. I had a lady friend tell me once how her father-in-law would buy ice cream for the light colored grand kids in his black family, but not her darker colored child. He would say stuff like, "why did you go and marry that dark skinned black guy". This from a grandfather who was black?
People who have dark, dark, skin are looked down upon because it is assumed that they have to sweat and toil in the sun a lot, and hence they are not very educated or smart, etc. This is just one reason, there are many more.
When will people not be judged by their skin color? Society has their priorities all wrong.

the desire for whiteness is universal, like it or not, politically corrct or incorrect. ion western societies the majority is white and most of them are only superficially non rasict, underneath most of them are proud of their whiteness. in south america it is very muuch like india. there a tiny white elite and a tiny black lower class and every possible shade in between. infact as you move higher into whiteness of skin on an average you move higher on social and economic status, same is in india exactly like south america, havent you noticed rich people are all fair compared to darker lower classes? even in states like tamil nadu higher classes are considerably fair. there are two reasons for universal likeness for white skin: first is cultural as white people are more rich and have higher social status so the color of skin being associated with status everybody covets it. the other biological... fair skin gives a verry good picture of the halth and age of a person, its much easier to spot a blemish in light colored things, so we have evolved to covet white skin to maximise the chances oif getting a fit and healthy mate.
