I was just thinking today. I thought back upon 9-11 and I can remember shortly after that horrible tragedy how it seemed all Americans were one. We were more patient with one another, kind, we laid our differences aside just for a short time to understand one another. It is like a brother and sister love-hate relationship. I can say what ever I want to you but, no one else better. I was just thinking how nice it would be if we could love one another despite our differences. Your thoughts?

I agree, it only lasted a few days. I didn't like how it came about, but it sure was nice to have people being kind and cordial to one another.

It a remarkable thing to see people come together for either a historical or tragical event, but these moments are often short-lived. It is, in fact, a blessing that thay occur at all. I can say that I am truly proud to be an American, because we know how and when to work together and become truly united. Although it would be nice if that sort of relationship with each other was a day-to-day thing, we must also realize that Americans are mostly very independent on an average basis.

Americans seem to have a 10 day attention span.

I remember the moon landing in 1969 when everybody just stopped in the street when the news was announced. Everything just came to a standstill all over the city of Boston for just a few minutes during the announcement of that most historical event - then everything just resumed back to normal.

It seems all of the USA becomes galvanized only during a tragic or historical event. I can't wait until summer of 2008 when the Mars lander determines if there is life or evidence of past life on Mars.

"it seemed all Americans were one"

The operative word here is "seemed".

It is not my intention to be a wet blanket, but the directives to the media was to spin the presentations so that "it seemed all Americans were one."

Consider that the first order of business was business. It was very important to find new homes for business whose offices were located in WTC. There has been a growing homelessness situation for the common citizen in the USA for better than three decades. This has not changed for the better.

The systematic manipulation of and by news services are corodinated by those whom are well versed in the areas of advertisement, propaganda, marketing, and Behavioural Social Science. In short they are no more than con-men (confidence men) operating on an unsuspecting preconditioned public, like a magician working his spectators, who plead and beg to be fooled once more.

"The are only three types of people that should use the word we as a collective: The queen of England, a pregnant woman, and a man with a tape worm." - Mark Twain

No one group is monolithic in their views. There are always variations on the theme.

When there is an insistance that makes it "seem" as though a group is one, be watchful with the utmost caution. Some agenda with the purpose of distraction is at work.

A wise man learns to:
Trust only in lies.
Believes only in the absurd.
And learns to expect the unexpected.

I completely agree. Unfortunatly, many people do not realize the importance of loving eachother untill it is thrown in their faces with a tragedy like 9-11 was. If we took the time to realize the little things in life that really made us smile, instead of always focusing on the bad things, many people would be a lot happier and a lot more loving.

For a very brief season America was truly the "United" States but in reality that season has passed. It seems to take a terrible tragedy, or having a "common enemy", for human beings to care about others as the Lord meant us to do. Your thoughts are beautifully idealistic and the world would be a much nicer place in which to live if they actually came to pass.

If every human only lived by the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you - we would all still be living in Eden.

Oh, sure, there would be accidents and natural disasters and whatnot, but we would ALL pull together, not just the handful of people in the world that have a modicum of humanity and seem to carry the charity load on their shoulders all by themselves.

of course it would be nice, but is it possible? i believe someone i used to know said it the best: human beings will only work together as one if there is an outside force we must all fight against, meaning, there will only be peace and love in the world if aliens attack.
