My daughter was born on the 22nd and is small to begin with, only around 6 pounds. I switched to formula after a day and a half of breastfeeding because it wasnt satisfying her. I am pretty set on using formula now. The problem is she was up all night. She ate at least 6 ounces during the night. She was literally just eating and pooping and crying. This morning (just like yesterday) she fell asleep after I fed her around 10:30-11. I tried to wake her up to feed her because she isnt supposed to go more than 3 hours without eating but she was too tired. I tried again but she still just slept. She had 3 wet diapers and more poopy ones than I can remember last night, so I know she got enough to eat. I'm just concerned that she hasnt eaten in 3 1/2-4 hours. What should I do? Will she be okay? Should I just let her sleep to build up a little bit of energy to eat before I freak out about it?

Thank you for any advice!

Thanks for your responses! I just woke her up and she ate an ounce, not as much as I'd like but better than nothing!

Congratulations. 6 lbs is about average, she just looks small because she is new, just like you are new as far as being a mother is concerned it sounds like. Don't worry. Don't try to force a schedule to learn what is normal for her. Also keep in mind she is just a few days old so she has no idea what night and day is yet. So being up at night is normal until she learns, but don't force it. Just enjoy it and look at it as a time for just the two of you. she only knows to eat when she is hunger and stay awake and explore with her eyes as much as possible. My favorite time with my daughter was sitting in the night and singing and humming to her. Since she is on a bottle if you have help during the day that will help you to get the sleep you need. For now work with her schedule, don't force her to work on your timetable. That will frustrate you more than her and make it difficult for you to just enjoy her. If you want to wash clothes, do so at night since you are going to be up with her anyway. Work with that for a couple of weeks but during the day try to have as much natural light flowing in as possible, it helps to set their biological clock

I think 3-4hours for formula fed babies is OK. About the pooping and eating.. that's normal. She could be crying becuase she's hungry, wet, dirty, have gas, or needs to burp. You could also try propping her up for about 10 minutes after she eats to make sure that the formula is going down ok.
About sleeping, you could dress her down to her diaper so that she wakes up, or change her diaper before you feed her, that will wake her up- i had to do that with my son, je was always falling asleep at the breast ( i nursed)

Good luck with your precious bundle!

she is ok- she will wake up when she is hungry- she has her nights and days mixed up so she will probably sleep for about another hour. I would wake her up- undress her- take off any socks- take off any blankets-if she is comfortable she will sleep- she will wake up- this way you will get her on the right track- to sleep when you sleep. Believe me- babies will cry when they are hungry- don't worry...as long as she is breathing she is fine.

she should be fine but try to wake her again in an hour to feed her.
