Have tried every thing new switch new filter. Took wires off the light does not come on when you switch ignition on but will come on when you rev it. Is there another switch some where that I havn't found. Engine oil pressure good so its not worn bearings.
I am a ex mechanic so I do know about engines but this one is baffling me. Can any one help

Check whether the wiring for the switch is running close to the engine block or any hot part of it.
I had the same problem on the old 80. It turned out that the insulation on part of the wire had melted and when the engine was revved to about 4000 rpm the bare wire got in contact with the manifold.
(stupid place to do wiring, but there you go!)

Is there possibly a fault in the wiring between the oil pressure switch and the dash, and the revving on the engine causes the wire to make a better contact. Otherwise is it the engine earth wire.

It is a weiring fault but get it checked out properly because if it comes on for real when you are driving you will have caused irreparable damage to your engine

the oil pressure regulator normally a spring with a ball bearing , near the pump, has the spring lost tension ? not sure if your vehicle has one or not, but just a thought

my guess is a poor intrument cluster ground path..
