why they keep hiring teachers at the University that can't teach, and even though they get complaints from students about their teaching, they keep them regardless what. why? don't they see how frustrated the students are with this? isn't not enought that college expenses are so high, that they have to provide us with teacher that actually fair and know how to teach?

now i am thinking about online education, as it seems it has more clear instruction of what to do, and the book can be better than all these teachers who can't teach.

University professors do not have to have had any teaching instruction. They are experts in their fields of study. If a teacher isn't teaching what you need, go to their office during their office hours with your specific questions on the material. Come to each class prepared, having read all the material and support material, with a list of questions. As your professor is teaching, listen for the answers to these questions. Online instruction is a million times worse, as far as pedagogy is concerned.

University professors are hired based on their knowledge and achievements in their field. There are no requirements in regards to teaching ability. In fact, many professors spend much of their time on research and publishing articles and books, because that is what brings money and prestige to the university.

Then there's tenure. When a professor has tenure, the university can't fire them unless they violate actual laws.

There are some amazing professors out there, who are brilliant and passionate about teaching (mostly found at small private colleges). There are others who are great lecturers. Then there are the rest.

Your high school teachers did you a disservice if they did not warn you that most of your college career would be spent with lecturers. Learn to find your own way.

At one time, the university thought they were the best qualified and knowledgable in that field. There is such a thing as tenure and once someone has that, they can never be removed, no matter how badly they teach. I thought when I was in college that I didn't really need the instructor since all he did was explain the book to us. Buy the book (for the enormous cost they demand) read it, and you know as much as anyone else.
