I've tried two different set of speakers, so that's not the problem. When I plug the speakers in, it comes up as no audio device.

The computer doesn't know or care if speakers are attached. It's the sound card that's the problem. If you don't have a separate sound card and are using the computer's built in sound, it could be disabled in setup or just defective. The solution is usually just to buy a basic $20 Soundblaster and add it.

Sound card/on board sound drivers. If you look at your computer, do you plug the speakers into holes near a lot of other holes such as USB or is it in a card away from everything else? If it is near USB stuff and all other ports, you need to go to the website of your motherboard manufacturer and download the drivers for the sound on your motherboard. It would be under downloads or support on the site. If you have the holes just by themselves you have a sound card so you need to find the manufacturer of that and do the same thing. Go to their website and get the newest drivers.

You will need to install the Driver for sound. If it is a Onboard Sound Card then you will need to find the driver from the Motherboards Manufaturer website.

If it is a Sound card that you have bought and have plugged it into the computer, then run the disk that it came with, and install the drivers that came with the disk. that should fix the problem.
